On October 26, Merited Artist of the Republic of Armenia Ara Kevorkian and New Arena Production presented the first music videos that are part of their Black April Project at Moscow Cinema in Yerevan. The music videos are for the songs “Remember” and “Kank u Klinenk” (We Exist and We Will Exist) and are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
“Before the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, I composed a song with English lyrics by American singer Daniel Decker and Armenian lyrics by Levon Blbulian. My most beloved maestro Ohannes Chekidjian gave his approval, and I started recording the song with the National Academic Choir of Armenia and the Philharmonic Orchestra,” Ara Kevorkian mentioned, reports “Armenpress”.
According to the Merited Artist of the Republic of Armenia, after recording the song, he learned that various Armenian choirs of the Diaspora were visiting Armenia to participate in the “Im Hayastan” (My Armenia) Pan-Armenian Festival organized by the RA Ministry of Diaspora.
“Those choirs also performed the songs. New Arena Production organized the making of the music videos at Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex, as well as in the Diaspora,” Ara Gevorgyan added. According to him, there were practically no expenses made for the making of the two music videos and the recordings.
“This goes to show once again that when we Armenians come together, we can achieve serious results. I hope someday Turkey acknowledges its guilt,” he mentioned, adding that the two music videos will also be disseminated on the Internet. Maestro of All Armenians Ohannes Chekidjian says the initiative is a success. “When I first heard the songs, I liked them. Ara Kevorkian is gifted. When I heard the songs, I told him everyone would love them. It was a very smooth process. This is music for people of all nationalities,” he mentioned.
The songs “Remember” and “Kank u Klinenk” (We Exist and We Will Exist) are the first steps of the Black April Project. The music for both video clips are the same, and the only difference is the language. There is also a small difference in terms of scenes. Besides, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra Eduard Topchian is the conductor in the music video for the Armenian version, and Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the State Academic Choir of Armenia Ohannes Chekidjian is the conductor in the music video for the English version. The music videos are directed by Vahan Setoyan.
