Films devoted to the Armenian Genocide Presented During Romania International Film Festival

Armenian films or films devoted to Armenia and the Armenians stood out among the series of films screened during the Romania International Film Festival held in Bucharest from October 19 to 25.

As reports “Armenpress”, viewers watched the “1915” psychological drama by Karin Hovannisian and Alek Mouhibian, the film “The Cut”, which is devoted to the Armenian Genocide and directed by famous German-Turkish Fatih Akin, as well as Jivan Avetisyan’s “Tevanik” trilogy, which is devoted to the Artsakh war and is an Armenian-Lithuanian production.

This year, the directors of “Tevanik” received the Award of the Romania International Film Festival “For uniquely describing the impact that the war had on residents of a small village cut off from the world”.

The Romania International Film Festival helps bring together directors of films from the countries of the Black Sea region.

One of the organizers of the festival is Cornelia Palos, who is of Armenian descent and whose three films were shown during the festival.

On Sunday, cultural life in Bucharest continued with another event devoted to Armenia and the Armenians.

At the initiative of the Cultural Institute of Romania, the Transylvanian Flauto Dolce Ensemble gave a concert called “Cultural Diversity in Early Music of Romania” at the Lutheran Church in Bucharest. The concert featured performances of traditional Armenian music adapted by the ensemble.

The quartet led by Zoltan Mayo has revived and uniquely presents Armenian music found in the Armenian archives of the Romanian cities of Kluzh and Gerla to the Romanian audience. Among the musical instruments used is the organ made by Armenia masters of Transylvania in the 18thcentury.

Throughout the year, Flauto Dolce has performed Armenian music during the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide and at the official reception dedicated to Armenia’s Independence Day with the support of the Embassy of Armenia in Romania.
