Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan arrived in Germany on an official visit on January 31, his Office told Armenpress.
The PM started his visit from the Germany city of Cologne where he met with KfW’s (German development bank) Director for Eastern Europe Olaf Zymelka.
The Armenian PM said the KfW is a productive partner for Armenia, and within the frames of the cooperation with the Bank a number of programs are being implemented in different sectors of Armenia’s economy. In this context Pashinyan attached importance to the grant agreement signed with the Bank in November 2018 on Biodiversity and Local Sustainable Development in Armenia program, worth 23,208,483.13 Euros, which is one of the most significant programs of this field in our region.
Pashinyan noted that making this field in accordance with the high environmental standards is one of the priorities of the Armenian government and it’s a pleasure to have such a reliable ally in the person of the German development bank.
Olaf Zymelka said Armenia is a key partner for the KfW with which joint effective programs are being implemented. Zymelka praised the cooperation with the different agencies of Armenia and added that the Armenia-KfW partnership contributes to the development of the Armenian-German ties, and the Bank is interested in discussing and implementing new initiatives.
The two officials also discussed the process of current programs in nature protection, energy, agricultural, infrastructures, water economy and reservoir construction fields, as well as exchanged views on issues relating to expanding the cooperation at other prospective directions.
