People’s Artist of the USSR and of Armenian SSR Vartuhi Varteresian died on November 24 aged 87. “Armenpress” was informed about the sad news by Gabriel Sundukian National Academic Theatre. The days of requiem and funeral ceremony are not yet known.
Vartuhi Varteresian was born on March 19, 1928, in Bucharest, Romania. She is an Armenian actress. She repatriated to Armenia in 1946, where she finished the studio of Leninakan Dramatical Theater (now Gyumri, Armenia), then worked in the same theater. Since 1958, she has been one of the leading actresses of the Sundukian Drama Theatre of Yerevan. In 1988, she won the People’s Artist of the USSR. In 2002 she was declared an honorary citizen of Yerevan.
