Armenia attaches importance to ties with the Arab countries, including Algeria, and is ready to search for common ground for cooperation, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said Friday when newly appointed Algerian Ambassador to Armenia Smail Allaoua (residence in Moscow) handed him credentials.
The presidential press office quoted Sargsyan as saying that Armenia’s involvement in the League of Arab States as observer contributes to this cooperation.
The Armenian president congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and expressed hope that his professional skills and experience will make ties between the two countries closer.
Both the president and the ambassador find the present level of relations between Armenia and Algeria unsatisfactory.
They stressed that the countries should develop them by joint efforts.
In the context of general approaches, the ambassador noted the national self-determination right. Sargsyan and Allaoua stressed the importance of cooperation in resisting new challenges in the fast-changing world
