Under the order of Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, extended serviceman, unit commander Muradov Ilkin Mammad oghlu has been awarded a third degree medal «For distinguished military service» for shooting down Armenian Mi-24 helicopter, Trend reported referring to the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan.
This is not the first case when the so-called «heroism» of Azerbaijani servicemen is encouraged. The story with Ramil Safarov who hacked an Armenian serviceman Gurgen Margaryan to death with an axe in Budapest in 2004, is a bright example of that.
Safarov sentenced to life imprisonment in Hungary, in August 2012 was extradited to Baku and pardoned by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev’s decree. After Gurgen Margaryan’s murder, Safarov practically became a national hero in Azerbaijan,
To recall, a helicopter MI-24 of the NKR Armed Forces was shot down today at about 1:45 PM local time in the air space of the eastern part of the line of contact between the armed forces of Karabakh and Azerbaijan during the training flight, as a result of breaking of the ceasefire regime by the Azerbaijani party.
As press-service of the NKR Defense Army reported, the territory, where the helicopter was shot down, is directly close to the line of contact. The adversary goes on intensively firing towards the place where the incident happened. The details are being clarified. According to the unconfirmed information, three servicemen died as a result of the incident. Press-secretary of Armenia’s Defense Ministry, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, said that the study of the wreckage of the helicopter will make it possible to prove that the helicopter was not equipped with arms.
