Passenger traffic through Zvartnots in Yerevan and Shirak airport in Giumry rose by 34.6% to 632,000 people in May-July, compared to the same period of 2013, Armenia’s civil aviation department reported.
‘Open’ air policy has led to new air companies’ coming to the Armenian market and to increased passenger traffic, says the report.
The department also says the air meteorology center of Zvartnots airport has got a certificate for official activities and is currently being equipped.
Zvartnots airport is run by Armenia-International Airports, a company owned by an Argentine citizen of Armenian descent Eduardo Eurnekian.
In 2001 the company signed a concessional agreement with the government to run Zvartnots for 30 years.
