Speaker Nabih Berri concluded his official visit to Iraq Friday by holding a series of meetings and emphasizing bilateral ties, a statement from his office said.
Berri has been in Iraq since Sunday afternoon upon an invitation from his Iraqi counterpart, Mohammed al-Halbousi.
Ahmed al-Jubouri, the head of the Iraqi National Axis parliamentary bloc, said after meeting with Berri that the Lebanese speaker’s visit to Baghdad would have a positive impact on bilateral ties between Iraq and Lebanon.
Berri also discussed bilateral ties with former Premier Ayad Allawi, now the secretary-general of the National Movement parliamentary bloc.
Allawi praised the stances Berri has taken against Israel, and said he and Berri would have additional meetings in Iraq and Lebanon.
