Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Tigran Sargsyan has proposed to create a special structure for the management of the integration projects aimed at the digital transformation of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), TASS reports.
In his remarks at the plenary session of the Digital Agenda in the Globalization Era conference in Almaty, the EEC Board Chairman reminded that currently the digital office created by the decision of heads of government is operating within the framework of the Commission. “But it’s already obvious that this digital office should turn into an independent body for management of projects because there are a lot of projects, and this is already a separate activity field”, he said.
He added that the EU’s experience has showed that new structures are necessary for the development of such separate directions. “This speaks about the fact that our integration has seriously moved forward within five years, and we are at a new stage of deepening it when new structures for the implementation of joint projects are necessary”, he said.
The EEC Board Chairman urged the EAEU countries to harmonize legislation in the digital technologies field and create common digital standards.
