Colorado Declares December 6 as Day of Azerbaijan’s Destruction of Armenian Khachkars in Old Djulfa

The State of Colorado held an event condemning Azerbaijan’s genocidal destruction of nearly 2,000 khachkars (cross-stones) in Old Djulfa.

Governor of Colorado John Hickenlooper has proclaimed December 6, 2015 as the 10^th Anniversary of Djulfa Destruction, in commemoration of the cultural heritage that was destructed due to Azerbaijan’s atrocious acts in Old Djulfa. The governor’s proclamation reads as follows: “The State of Colorado commemorated the 100^th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide this year by unveiling a Capitol khachkar memorial, a replica of one of Djulfa’s 2,000 destroyed monuments. Coloradans highly value cultural preservation and tolerance. Deliberate targeting of cultural monuments continues to pose a threat to our global heritage. I, John W. Hickenlooper, Governor of the entire State of Colorado, do hereby proclaim, forever after, December 6, 2015, as the 10^th Anniversary of Djulfa Destruction Day.”
