Azerbaijan continues to reject the proposals of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and is violating the ceasefire agreement on a regular basis. This is causing casualties, including the deaths of peaceful civilians. This is what RA President Serge Sarksian said in his speech at the third international forum of Moscow State Institute for International Affairs (MGIMO).
“Just recently, Azerbaijan was crudely violating the ceasefire agreement on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and at the Line of Contact of Karabakh and Azerbaijan with heavy weaponry. Azerbaijan continues to violate all the norms of international law and the commitments that it has undertaken to reach a settlement of the conflict,” the head of state mentioned, as reports “Armenpress”.
The RA President mentioned that, in order to justify its destructive actions, Azerbaijan regularly makes references to the 4 Resolutions of the UN Security Council for conflict resolution, but is the first to violate those Resolutions. “The most important of those 4 Resolutions is the immediate termination of military operations and peaceful settlement of the conflict within the framework of the Minsk Group, and Azerbaijan has shown that it is incapable of doing that. Therefore, Azerbaijan is the one violating those Resolutions,” the President underscored.
In closing, the RA President reaffirmed Armenia’s willingness to reach a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
