Pashinyan announces launch of pan-national economic revolution in Armenia

Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced the launch of a pan-national economic revolution in the country while delivering remarks during the parliamentary debate of the government’s Action Plan, reports Armenpress.

“The My Step alliance has received a mandate from the people to carry out an economic revolution. And thus, as I announced the launch of peaceful, velvet and democratic revolution in Armenia on April 16, 2018 from the French square of Yerevan, now as well I announce the launch of a pan-national economic revolution in Armenia from the high tribune of the Parliament. The Armenian people won in the fight against corruption, clan governance and the Armenian people will win in the fight against poverty, unemployment and inactivity”, the PM said.

He stated that the government adopts a direction of turning the economic growth policy into an economic development policy.

“It is possible to ensure economic growth as a result of the activities of several companies, but this doesn’t mean anything except calculation, and the citizens do not feel the effect of that economic growth no matter how high it is. We need an economic development, and as the most visible outcome of that development, the government plans to overcome the extreme poverty, greatly reduce poverty and unemployment rate, constantly increase the salaries and pensions, as well as multiply the export rates in Armenia in the upcoming five years. We consider the combination of these qualitative and quantitative figures and goals an economic revolution. We believe that the citizens of Armenia, the Armenian people, the government and Parliament have enough will, intellectual and moral potential to solve all these problems”, Nikol Pashinyan said.

The session of the Parliament of Armenia has kicked off on February 12. The lawmakers are debating the government’s Action Plan. The main reporter is Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The government approved the Action Plan during the February 8 extraordinary session. According to the Constitution of Armenia, the Parliament approves the government’s Action Plan within seven days by the majority of votes of the total number of MPs.
