PM Pashinyan and the First Lady Anna Hakobyan arrived in Moscow ahead of the opening ceremony of the World Cup Russia 2018.
PM Pashinyan met with President Putin in Moscow on the day of his arrival to discuss the bilateral relations between Armenia and Russia.
During the meeting with the Armenian PM, President Putin said “Given the strategic nature of our relations and the great scope of cooperation in different directions, I think our meetings are always necessary. The first thing I would like to note is that Russia continues to confidently preserve its leading position in terms of trade with Armenia. Last year trade turnover between our countries increased by over 30%, and the growth continues this year as well”.
Whereas PM Pashinyan elaborated on the special nature of the Armenia Russia relations and reassured the President, saying that the momentum is towards further developing the cooperation on the basis of mutual respect towards peoples and sovereignty, adding; “Everyone is aware that the opportunity of our relations is rather broad and we continue to discuss several issues regarding our political, economic and regional issues», adding «that these relations will become more special”.
According to the Russian President, Armenia’s membership to the EAEU has also played a positive role. “I hope we will continue to move forward in this direction”, Putin said.
