Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un meet in Singapore

US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un signed a joint agreement on Tuesday 12 June 2018, following a personal one-to-one meeting in Singapore.

During the meeting, both sides exercised forward-looking and constructive conduct and expressed goodwill; namely in the form of Pyongyang’s commitment towards denuclearization. The sides also agreed to further work closely to de-escalate the tension and find solutions to existing differences.

The initial impression by the world media and the diplomatic commentators is positive, as it marks the commencement of dialogue between the two world leaders, expressing hope and apparent intention of continuing the negotiations.

The joint agreement which was signed has been received with challenging commentaries amongst experts and analysts, questioning the lack of comprehensiveness and a lack of a «road-map».

The Trump – Kim meeting in Singapore is broadly seen by the media as “Historic” and groundbreaking, conceivably to open possibilities for an eventual sustainable peace and stability agreement for the Korean peninsula.
