The premiere of the music video for Armenia’s song to be presented at Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 has been held. This year, Mary Vardanyan and Anahit Adamyan will represent Armenia at the prestigious international song contest with the song “Different”. Out of the dozens of songs, the creative group of Armenian Public Television decided that Armenia would be represented with the song composed by Nick Yegibyan and Avet Barseghyan. The song is based on the differences of the teen singers in terms of style and their “struggle”.
Nick Yegibyan composed the song by taking into consideration and mixing several trendy music styles.“When I listened to the teens sing and was introduced to their styles, I immediately knew what kind of a song I wanted to write for them. As a result, we have a song that I think best corresponds to the singers. Although they are different in terms of vocal skills, they have the same mood,” Yegibyan stated, as reported on the official website of First Channel, according to Hayern Aysor.
According to Avet Barseghyan, he and Nick Yegibyan chose a topic that interests teens and is always a matter of discussion, as well as a differentiation between the classic and the sportive in fashion. “After discussions, we realized that the debate between children and teens is sharp and interesting. It was clear right from the first second that the song had to be based on contradictions since the girls look very different, but what brings them together is the song, their smiles and the love that they have for each other,” Avet Barseghyan stated, adding that the song presents a struggle that becomes a basis for unity in the future.
According to Armenia’s delegate Anahit Adamyan, the song, the music video and the choreography will be based on the discrepancies between her and Mary. “We are different in life and in terms of style, but we share song, music, smiles and love, and I think this is the most important,” Anahit mentioned.
As for Mary Vardanyan, she hopes they manage to excite the fans of Junior Eurovision through not only their song, but also the music video. “Anahit and I can dispute over various issues and topics, but any dispute is secondary when we start singing together,” Mary mentioned.
Let us remind that Junior Eurovision International Song Contest will be held for the 14th time on November 20 in Valeta, Malta (Malta is hosting the contest for the second time).
The rules of the contest have changed this year. The contest is open to children and teens between the ages of 9 and 14 instead of 10-15 in the past. This year, TV viewers won’t be voting. The winner will be determined by professional and children’s juries of the participating countries and through the votes of a professional jury. The jury will include three well-known European artists. The final broadcasting hours have also been changed. The fans of Junior Eurovision will be able to watch the contest in the evening, not at night.
This year, there will be participants from 17 countries, including Albania, Armenia, Australia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Georgia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Macedonia, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine.
Armenian Public Television is the official broadcaster of the contest in Armenia.
The director of the music video for the song “Different” is Aramayis Hayrapetyan.
