His Holiness Garegin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, addressed a congratulatory message on the 27th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian Army, reports Armenpress.
“From the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin we bring our patriarchal blessing to the courageous officers and soldiers of the Armenian Army and all Armenians on the Army Day. On this day our souls are filled with a feeling of pride because our victorious Army is defending the borders of our Homeland by bringing the example of patriotism and responsibility in our life with its courageous and constant service. We believe that the Armenian Army holiday should strengthen each son of our people in his duty towards the Homeland with glorious and heroic memories. The Army Day is a message to our people to be filled with the confidence of victories, bring effort and contribution to the prosperity and development of Armenia and Artsakh and implement our visions for progress and national awakening”, His Holiness Garegin II said in the message, wishing peace and prosperity to Armenia and all Armenians.
The Republic of Armenia and Armenians around the world celebrate the 27th anniversary of the Armenian Army’s establishment on January 28. On January 28, 1992, the Government adopted the “On the Defense Ministry of Armenia” historic decision, heralding the formation of the Armenian Army. In May of 1992, the ministry held the first drafting, laying the foundation for the stable tradition of drafting conscription servicemen to the Army.
