CAPTURING EXPRESSIONS OF CREATIVITY is an exhibit through which artist ShantBeudjekian expresses a new genre and vision to the world. Artists have often influenced one another. According to Beudjekian, the most notable aspect in creating a painting is when the artist can reveal in each brush mark the play of light, value of color, and composition all at once. Although his paintings have been influenced by a myriad of styles including Impressionism, Fauvism, Cubism, Futurism, and the free Avant Garde painters of the 1950’s and 60’s referred to as the Abstract Expressionists, Beudjekian has had the opportunity to emulate earlier styles of art dealing with subjects of still life, figurative and landscape paintings.
SHANT BEUDJEKIAN was born in 1971 in Beirut, Lebanon. Moving to California in 1995, he received a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a minor in Ceramics at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. He attended a one-year internship at Rhode Island School of Design in Landscape Architecture. Beudjekian has exhibited in several cities in the East Coast, especially in the Chelsea District of Manhattan in New York. He returned to Southern California in 2004 and has had exhibitions at the San Diego Art Institute of the Living Artists, Del Mar Art Center, San Diego Hospice and Palliative Care, and Forest and Ocean Gallery in Laguna Beach. He has achieved honorable mentions and awards from various juried competitions such as the Bonita Museum, North Park Art Festival and La Jolla Art Association, while simultaneously working as a full time artist at Sea World.
